Where AlertEd watches

46 states and Washington, DC. Here’s exactly what.

AlertEd reads the public job boards school employers actually post to, and tells you when something matches. Coverage is not identical everywhere — in some states it is the whole state, in others it is a handful of districts. Every state and the District appear on exactly one card below, and every card says which.

Statewide

California

The statewide board roughly 1,100 districts post to. Search by county, by district, or by distance from a point you pick — the deepest coverage AlertEd has. The California hiring calendar

Complete by law

Iowa

Since July 2025, Iowa law requires every school district, charter school and area education agency to post all of its openings — and keep unfilled ones posted — on the state system. It is the one state job board the law makes complete.

State board

Florida

The state education job board, covering about half of Florida's 67 county districts — including Miami-Dade, Hillsborough, Palm Beach and Lee. Some large districts, Broward and Polk among them, post only on their own systems.

State board

Ohio, North Carolina & South Carolina

Each state's own education job board, statewide. North Carolina's is the largest single board AlertEd reads outside California.

State boards

Alabama, Arkansas & Mississippi

Each state's own statewide board, read in a single request. Alabama's is the largest of the three; Mississippi's consortium has the highest share of its state's employers of any board AlertEd reads outside California and Iowa.

State boards

New Jersey & Texas

New Jersey's long-running statewide board, plus several districts' own portals. In Texas, the school administrators' association career centre — covering all 20 regional service centres — alongside a multi-district board spanning 83 cities. Both states are statewide in reach; neither is every district.

State boards

Maine, Rhode Island & North Dakota

Each state's own education job board, statewide — North Dakota has two. All three are small states and the boards are correspondingly small.

Association boards

Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Arizona & Wyoming

Each of these states has its own statewide board, run by the state education department or by an association of its school administrators, personnel administrators or school boards — not a district portal. Wyoming's lists vacancies without descriptions, so a keyword alert there matches on the job title alone.

Partial

Illinois

The statewide Job Bank that hundreds of Illinois school employers post to, plus one large suburban district's own portal. It runs smaller and more rural than the state as a whole — most of the largest suburban districts, and Chicago, advertise only on their own systems.

Regional boards

Connecticut, Missouri, Pennsylvania, New Mexico & Nebraska

The shared regional job boards school employers in these states post to. Connecticut's is well used and close to statewide; the others are partial — a real slice of each state, not all of it. Nebraska's is an 18-district consortium.

Shared portals

West Virginia, Alaska, Delaware, Idaho & Oklahoma

The shared portals and association boards participating employers in these states post to. West Virginia's covers all 55 county systems; Idaho's is smaller, and Alaska's and Delaware's carry the districts that have joined them. Oklahoma's school boards association runs a statewide board alongside Oklahoma City and one regional cooperative.

Some districts

Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Washington, Louisiana, Maryland, Utah, Montana & Oregon

Not the whole state. AlertEd watches a set of districts or regional service agencies in each — thirty in Massachusetts, twenty-odd around Puget Sound in Washington, ten Louisiana parishes, nine in Maryland, four intermediate school districts in Michigan, three service districts in Oregon, two of the largest districts in Utah. Boston, Seattle, Detroit, Baltimore, Salt Lake City, Minneapolis and Portland are not among them. Minnesota also has a statewide university-run board, and because it publishes no employer name a Minnesota alert cannot be narrowed to one district the way it can elsewhere.

A district or two

Kentucky, Kansas, Indiana, Georgia, Colorado, South Dakota, Virginia, Vermont & Washington, DC

Not the whole state — or, in the District, not the whole city. Jefferson County (Louisville); Shawnee Mission; one regional cooperative in central Indiana; Atlanta and Gwinnett; Summit and Aspen; Aberdeen and Sioux Falls; Albemarle and Accomack; one Vermont supervisory union. In Washington, DC it is the charter sector only — DC Public Schools, the city's largest employer of teachers, is not there. Denver, Savannah, Richmond and Wichita are not covered.

New York is coming soon — it appears in the app marked that way, and AlertEd is not showing New York postings yet.

Counts and participation change. AlertEd shows the source board on every posting, and links you to the original listing to apply. More states are being added — if yours is missing, tell us at info@alerted.app.
